Hollyhock. Another artwork finds it's way into a frame. This was quite an early experiment mixing paper and thread. The embroidery and layers of flowers means the work has lovely depth and dimension. The twisted stitched stem wasn't easy to achieve but something I'm still proud of.

Finishing the framing of three artworks. This series of embroidered paper collages is titled Spawning. Shallow fern draped pebble strewn streams provide the perfect environment for new life. Framing in simple elegant natural oak wood with off white mounts to match the watercolour paper the artworks were created on.

This beautiful full size statue of a child by Alfred Gilbert in the crypt of St Paul's Cathedral was a highlight during a recent visit. Commissioned by his friends as a memorial to English illustrator Randolph Caldecott. A fitting tribute to a talented author and illustrator of children's books who died far too young. The inscription reads. '"An artist whose sweet and dainty grace has not been in its kind surpassed: whose humour was as quaint as it was inexhaustible."

If only walls could talk. I'm always drawn to a pattern and these embossed leather panels used as 'wallpaper' looked so decorative in a hallway and staircase at Oxburgh Hall, Norfolk. Not their original home. They began life on someone else's walls in Europe, were purchased, brought back to the UK and then patched together, retouched and reused. There is nothing new about vintage and recycling. A fascinating visit to an amazing moated National Trust property in Norfolk with more than a few stories to tell.

Blue magic. Sometimes a printmaking session is rewarded with a particular paper that makes my heart sing. Printed on the gelli plate using paint, inks, alcohol and silver leaf, the silver looks like mica within rock and the whole piece is reminiscent of a shallow underwater scene. All the result of 'playing' while creating.
