An incredible visit to Iceland. Natural sculptures on Diamond Beach at Hofn. The ice breaks away from a glacier, flows into a lagoon and onto a beach of black volcanic sand. These images don't even begin to show the natural beauty. Late afternoon sunlight made it even more memorable.

This beautiful full size statue of a child by Alfred Gilbert in the crypt of St Paul's Cathedral was a highlight during a recent visit. Commissioned by his friends as a memorial to English illustrator Randolph Caldecott. A fitting tribute to a talented author and illustrator of children's books who died far too young. The inscription reads. '"An artist whose sweet and dainty grace has not been in its kind surpassed: whose humour was as quaint as it was inexhaustible."

If only walls could talk. I'm always drawn to a pattern and these embossed leather panels used as 'wallpaper' looked so decorative in a hallway and staircase at Oxburgh Hall, Norfolk. Not their original home. They began life on someone else's walls in Europe, were purchased, brought back to the UK and then patched together, retouched and reused. There is nothing new about vintage and recycling. A fascinating visit to an amazing moated National Trust property in Norfolk with more than a few stories to tell.

Printed on the gelli plate using paint, inks, alcohol and silver leaf, the silver looks like mica within rock and the whole piece is reminiscent of a shallow underwater scene. All the result of 'playing' while creating.

Just a few of the amazing outcomes from yesterday's lovely workshop. Only one lady had every printed before using a gelliplate and some had travelled quite a distance to share a day together. Everyone embraced the process and created some wonderful and varied outcomes. These are just a very few of their lovely monoprints. My next workshop will be in March.

Just a few of the amazing outcomes from yesterday's lovely workshop. Only one lady had every printed before using a gelliplate and some had travelled quite a distance to share a day together. Making Spring tulips. Very simple origami. I used a 12cm square of my hand printed cartridge paper created with a hand made stamp. But any light weight paper will do. Why not recycle gift wrap?

Creating new mono prints on my gelli plate for use as collage papers. Inspired by the colours and lovely hand drawn design of this 1950's furnishing fabric. The crayon textures have a lot in common with the marks produced in printmaking. I used the colour palette as a jumping off point and have added a russet and burnt orange for an accent and warm pop.
